Business Development - Making Your Dream A Reality

So What Have You Done About It Today?

Every one of us has a dream.  You may want to become a painter, make your department more efficient, start your own business, or loose 20 pounds.  The most important thing we can do turn our dreams into a reality is to create a plan.  Then break that plan down into tasks that can be reasonably achieved.  Too many of us attempt to tackle our dreams in one fell swoop, fail and become discouraged.  This is true in business and in our personal lives.  We often times don't know how or what to do.  Learn how to break the process down into steps that can be accomplished in daily manageable portions.

Story Telling

Cut to the Chase!

Every time we communicate with another person we tell a story.  Make each story you tell count.  It might be sharing your day with your significant other, explaining to your kid the importance of cleaning their room or capturing the interest of a Venture Capitalist.  Learn how to make each story you have to tell captivating and informative.  Make your reader want to turn the next page and your listener hang on your every word.

Publishing

“When I’m on Oprah…”or better yet, "we'll cross that bridge when we get to it"

Publishing has been with us for thousands of years, advancing only 600 years ago when Gutenberg introduced the moveable type press.  In the last few years the world of publishing has changed more than it has in the hundreds and thousands of years before and it will continue to do so for years to come.  The rules that worked yesterday don't work today.  Rich shares his in depth knowledge of the publishing industry from working in the industry to starting his own publishing company Stone In The Surf Press and working as Executive Editor for Over The Wall.  He openly shares the mistakes to avoid and the opportunities to take advantage of.

Road Signs In Life

On the road of life - how to spot and read the those giant freeway signs

One of Rich's favorite films is L.A. Story with Steve Martin.  Steve plays the character Harris K. Telemacher a down and out weatherman who is aided in life by one of those large electronic highway signs.  Unfortunately no one teaches us how to watch out for these signs and few of us are lucky to have a billboard on our side.  Too often we are speeding down the road of life, on our cell phones, or otherwise too occupied to take notice of the subtle signs that will change our lives.  For him, the signs have taken the form of a whisper that warns "don't fly today" to 120,000 cows and a rather large stone washed up on the pristine sands on the shore of the Sea of Cortez.  Rich enjoys sharing his experiences with the signs that have changed his life and a few he has missed.  He also has some insights on how to slow down and watch for your own signs.
